TMP Corporation Selects AirNet Communications For Wireless Voice
and Data Transmission Network

Melbourne, FL, March 8, 2001 - AirNet Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: ANCC), the technology leader in base station products for wireless communications, has been selected by TMP Corporation to deploy a network of Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) base stations that will provide high-quality wireless voice and high-speed data services for subscribers in portions of Illinois and Missouri.

The AirNet equipment will allow TMP to provide GSM and General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) to the area in the first quarter of 2001. AirNet's broadband, software-defined base stations will provide coverage within the urban areas, while the company’s backhaul-free base stations, designed specifically to cost effectively address coverage-limited areas by eliminating the need for expensive T1/E1 services, will be deployed in lower density regions.

"AirNet offered TMP a cutting-edge solution that will provide our customers a seamless path to higher speed services," said Walt Rowland, President of TMP. "AirNet’s award winning products will enable us to quickly and cost-effectively offer the highest quality voice and high-speed data services, making it possible to rapidly expand our coverage area and our customer base."

The first phase of the contract is valued at $2 million, with follow-on expansion orders expected to bring the total to $7 million.

"The compelling AirNet approach makes it possible for providers to economically offer high-speed services in markets of all sizes," said Lee Hamilton, president and CEO, AirNet Communications. "TMP is seeking to offer its growing customer base the very best services today while laying the groundwork for future, higher speed applications. We are pleased that yet another operator has chosen the AirNet solution to serve is customers."

The AirNet base station is a broadband, software-defined solution that allows wireless operators to easily migrate to GPRS or EDGE on their existing AirNet base stations by simply upgrading software. The upgrade can be performed remotely from a network control center, dramatically reducing the cost and time of deploying the solution to every cell site.

AirNet's base station solution delivers full GPRS capabilities. It supports all four GPRS coding protocols, which increases the maximum transmission speed to cost-effectively provide capabilities for a full range of new and enhanced services. The AirNet solution also ensures compatibility with all GPRS handsets and terminals, allowing for full data speed on most advanced devices and applications. By utilizing the AirNet solution, operators can simultaneously provide existing GSM service with the evolving GPRS and EDGE service.

“TMP has chosen AirNet because our compelling value proposition delivers immediate and long-term benefits,” said Glenn Ehley, senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing at AirNet. “By selecting the most cost-effective coverage solution in the industry, TMP will not only be meeting the needs of their current subscribers, but preparing for the future with a solution that will allow for migration towards higher speeds and third generation networks.”
