AirNet Communications Receives Follow-On Order from
MBO Wireless, Inc. for Additional Base Station Equipment

Melbourne, FL, October 24, 2001 - AirNet Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: ANCC), the technology leader in base station products for wireless communications, has been awarded a follow-on order by MBO Wireless, Inc. for additional base station equipment in support of their network expansion plan.  This $800,000 order is the fourth phase of a $5.1 million contract and continuation of MBO’s growth and success in the PCS market.

The additional AirNet equipment will allow the MBO Wireless team to expand their network and cover additional capacity requirements.  The AirNet equipment includes additional broadband, software-defined AdaptaCell™ base stations, which will provide capacity within the urban areas.

"We are pleased that AirNet has been a key part of our roll out of GPRS high speed data services," said V. David Miller II, president of MBO Wireless, Inc.  "With the continued expansion of our network, additional capacity deployments, and roll out of GPRS, it was important for us to continue down the path toward higher speed services and wireless Internet applications.  Only AirNet offers the ideal solution for operators to cost effectively deliver high-speed data services and to quickly extend coverage."

"AirNet has clearly demonstrated that its software-defined base station solution is the right choice in today’s competitive market," said Glenn Ehley, president and CEO of AirNet Communications.  "We are pleased to extend our long term relationship with the MBO team and look forward to the continued build-out of their network for not only voice services, but also for high-speed data applications as well."

The AirNet base station is a broadband, software-defined solution that allows wireless operators to easily migrate to GPRS and EDGE on their existing AirNet base stations by simply upgrading software.  AirNet's base station solution delivers full GPRS capabilities today.  It supports all four GPRS coding protocols, which increases the maximum transmission speed to cost-effectively provide capabilities for a full range of new and enhanced services.  The AirNet solution also ensures compatibility with all GPRS handsets and terminals, allowing for full data speed on most advanced devices and applications.  By utilizing the AirNet solution, operators can simultaneously provide existing GSM service with the evolving GPRS and EDGE service.
