AirNet Communications
Receives Order for GSM Community Cordless
Electronia to Deploy "Direct Link" AdaptaCell BTS in Middle
East
Melbourne, FL, March 2, 2005 - AirNet Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: ANCC), the technology leader in software defined base station products for wireless communications, today announced that it has received a purchase order for a validation system from Electronia, an authorized OEM reseller doing business in the Middle East. The AdaptaCell® 4000 base station is being sold with Direct Link™, AirNet’s latest technology which enables direct connection of the base station to a PRI-enabled PBX or central office exchange.
AirNet’s flagship AdaptaCell base station together with their Direct
Link technology is of serious interest to operators in under-served
markets in the Middle East,” said Tariq Husain, vice president
of business development and a board member for Electronia. “At
just a fraction of the cost, this solution is far more cost-effective
and rapidly deployable when compared to building conventional wireline
networks. Our plan is to totally satisfy our customer with this initial
validation system, and thereafter address the larger market opportunity.”
Innovation
is the key to remaining competitive in the GSM market,” said
Timothy J. Mahar, vice president of sales for AirNet Communications.
“Our broadband, SDR platform helps us eliminate the need for
costly network elements such as the MSC and BSC so that wireless operators
can provide a highly reliable, rapidly deployable community cordless
network. The network can easily be expanded using AirSite® Backhaul
Free™ base stations and later upgraded to the full mobility
of GSM whenever business conditions permit.”
