AirNet Communications Grows Management Team

MELBOURNE, Fla.--July 7, 2000-- AirNet Communications Corporation (Nasdaq:ANCC), a leading provider of software-defined, broadband wireless base station products, today announced the appointment of two senior executives to the corporate staff. John C. Berens will take over as Chief Financial Officer, and Richard K. Beckley will lead the global sales team as Vice President of International Sales, a new position.

Mr. Berens, whose financial career has spanned more than 18 years, will assume the position of CFO from Gerald Hattori, who is leaving to pursue other interests. Mr. Berens most recently served as Vice President for Glenayre at the company's world headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. At Glenayre, Mr. Berens had primary responsibility for managing the company's global financial needs: including SEC reporting, consolidated financial statements, internal audit, worldwide tax planning, and treasury functions. In addition, Mr. Berens also participated in communications with the market and financial analyst community. With Glenayre`s net sales exceeding $238 million in 1999 and wireless products installed in more than 100 countries, Mr. Berens brings extensive international and wireless experience to help grow AirNet's business.

In the second appointment, Mr. Beckley will lead the international sales team to further expand AirNet's presence in the global wireless market. Mr. Beckley joins AirNet with more than 25 years of international sales experience, including 10 years in the wireless industry. Most recently, Mr. Beckley was Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Telular Corporation, where he improved revenue by 200% to $65 million, and where he managed an international sales staff that resulted in contracts with Lucent, Ericsson, Alcatel, BellSouth, GTE and several European operators. His focus on major growth regions in the world has included introducing products for wireless infrastructure equipment, developing and negotiating contracts, and forming strategic relationships with major communication suppliers and operators. Mr. Beckley has developed international knowledge and contacts selling other wireless products, and will have an immediate impact positioning AirNet in international wireless markets.

"AirNet is extremely pleased to be adding two senior industry veterans like John Berens and Richard Beckley," said Lee Hamilton, president and CEO of AirNet." Both have extensive experience in the international wireless communications business and will add even more depth to our veteran management team. These two appointments will enable AirNet to manage and continue to grow its global wireless business."
